Application for candidacy  

The materials listed here must be received by the Administrator of the Commission on Ministry four weeks prior to a quarterly Commission on Ministry meeting. Check the diocesan calendar for Commission on Ministry meeting dates.

When the application is complete and arrives four weeks before the meeting, the application then will be presented for consideration.

To make an application to become a candidate, complete these steps. Note that references are to the Constitution and Canons 2006 of The Episcopal Church.

1. Submit an Application for Candidacy. (Title III.6.4.a)

2. Submit a letter of support from the postulant’s vestry and clergy. It must be dated and signed by two-thirds of the vestry and by a member of the clergy. (Title III.6.4.a)

3. The Commission on Ministry submits a recommendation to the Standing Committee (Council of Trustees) attesting to the continuing formation of the postulant. The Commission on Ministry may request an interview with the Postulant.(Title III.6.4.b.).

4. The Standing Committee (Council of Trustees) shall interview the Postulant and submit a recommendation to the Bishop. (Title III.6.4.2b)

The Bishop may name the postulant as candidate. (Title III.6.4.b)
