WICHITA-AREA CLERGY, BISHOP, ISSUE STATEMENT ON TILLER MURDER
Twelve clergy from the Southwest Convocation, along with Bishop Dean Wolfe,

BISHOP ISSUES GUIDELINES TO HELP CHURCHES DEAL WITH H1N1 FLU
Bishop Dean Wolfe has sent information to all parishes, clergy and lay leaders about some common sense precautions churches should take when distributing communion in the wake of the spread of the H1N1 influenza virus.
They are available on the diocesan website by clicking here. Also posted there are a variety of resources about the virus and how people can protect themselves. Handouts provided by the Dioceses of Texas and Western New York and the Colorado Department of health are also included.

BULLETIN INSERT RECALLS BISHOPS OF THE PAST 150 YEARS
The sixth and seventh installements in a series of 11 bulletin inserts for parish use has been released, all describing the life and work of the bishops that have served the Diocese of Kansas.
An insert honoring Kansas' fourth bishop, James Wise, now is available by clicking here. It is suggested that this be distributed to Sunday worshippers on July 12. An insert honoring the fifth bishop, Goodrich Fenner, also is available, by clicking here. It is suggested this insert be distributed on July 26.

BISHOP WOLFE'S CHRISM MASS SERMON NOW AVAILABLE
A copy of the sermon preached by Bishop Dean Wolfe at the annual Chrism Mass is available by clicking here.
The Chrism Mass, which takes place annually on the Tuesday of Holy Week, not only includes the blessing of Oil of Chrism to mark those baptized in the next year, but it also includes the renewal of ordination vows by deacons, priests and the bishop of the diocese.
BISHOPS ISSUE PASTORAL LETTER
Members of the House of Bishops concluded their six-day retreat at Kanuga Conference Center on March 18 by unanimously approving a pastoral letter about the hope the church offers despite "a culture of scarcity" and a deepening crisis "both economic and environmental."

DEPUTIES READYING FOR GENERAL CONVENTION
Kansas' deputies and alternates to this summer's General Conventino already have begun meeting and preparing for the 10-day gathering of the 110 dioceses of the Episcopal Church.
