  St. David's cross comes down

Good-bye, St. David's
Parishioners at St. David's, Topeka, are adjusting to life without their church building, which was damaged beyond repair in a November 2006 arson fire. They worship at a local Jewish temple while awaiting the final demolition of the church.

Shawnee parishioner donates kidney to a stranger
Debra Callaway of St. Luke's, Shawnee, said she "just knew" it was the right thing to do when she decided to offer one of her kidneys to anyone who might need it. That happened last December.

Two Kansas clergy write books of Lenten meditations
The Rev. Kate Moorehead, rector of St. James', Wichita, and the Rev. Jonathon Jensen, rector of Trinity, Lawrence, have published books of Lenten meditation to help people fit time for reflection and contemplation into busy schedules.

Education building at St. Peter's, Pittsburg, damaged by old coal mine
A 19th century abandoned coal mine spelled trouble for St. Peter's, Pittsburg, as its education building building, built over the site, shifted and fell three inches last year. The parish is taking steps to correct the problem, including pumping the underground holes full of grout.

- The building housing Episcopal Social Services, Wichita, has been valued at more than twice the original offer by county officials, paving the way for the agency to move and its building to be torn down for a new county arena.
- The church building in Wichita where the congregation of St. Alban's worshipped before its merger last year with St. Stephen's has been sold to an art school.
