| Who
are The Mustard Seeds?
The Mustard Seeds are a contemporary christian worship
band made up of high school and college students from the Diocese of
Kansas. The band is made up of 16 members from all over the
diocese. This allows band members to rotate for purposes of availability.
Where do The Mustard Seeds play? We travel on invitation to parishes around the diocese. We play for Sunday worship services, youth events, and special events of the diocese. How did The Mustard Seeds get their name? It's a biblical reference to Matthew 17:20, in which Jesus says, "...if you have faith as small as a mustard seed , you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." What is "Contemporary Worship Music?" Like most music it's hard to classify, but it can be characterized by a few common elements. Contemporary worship bands are usually made up of the following instruments: guitar, bass guitar, & drums. But many other instruments are often added, which is reflected by our members. Praise and worship songs tend to be based on simple melodies that are easy to remember and sing even without musical notation. What if I want to join The Mustard Seeds? Great! We can always use more musicians. Since the band operates on a rotating basis, we can never have too many people involved. If you're a high school or college student, and want to join the band, contact Chad Senuta. How can I get The Mustard Seeds to play at my church or youth event? We'd love to come to your parish and play. Contact Chad Senuta (913-362-1470) to get The Mustard Seeds on your calendar.
